Mission Statement
Duke Studios' ongoing mission is to provide quality service at
a competitive price while delivering a complete range of broadcast
quality media production services to all parts of the Duke University
community. The Studios remains committed to the delivery of these
services at or below competitive market rates.
Formed in 1980, Duke Studios is an active media production/studio
facility located in the heart of Duke University in the Bryan University
Center. The Studios is an integral part of the Event Management
Department, currently a division of Campus Services on campus. Originally
established as an audio production facility and located on Duke's
East Campus in the Biddle Building, the Studios and staff moved
to their current location on West Campus in 1989. The Studios has
continued to expand their integrated range of services, from concept
to completion, including: video and audio production and post-production
(including event documentation), project design, production equipment
rentals, tape duplication, custom CDs and DVDs, and computer graphics
and animation.
As corporate members of the Media Communications Association-International (formerly
the International Television Association) since 1990, several members of the staff
have been recognized with the ITVA Silver Reel of Merit for the quality of their
work. The staff is also active within the Duke University production community,
providing technical consultation and academic support for the Duke Program in
Film/Video/Digital, as well as the student production activities of Cable 13 and
Freewater Films.
